Rimu reading group read a book called 'Hero'. It was about about a 15 year old boy that had received the New Zealand Bravery Medal. He had saved a young boy from drowning.
The next day, Room 9 were lucky enough to be shown the medals that she had received. The Queen's Service Medal (QSM). It recognises voluntary service to the community. Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters 'QSM' after their names. Although, Mrs Fowler is far too humble to do this. I think it looks rather good...wink, wink Mrs Fowler.
Mrs Judy Fowler QSM
Here is a photograph of her medals. The 'QSM' is on the far right together with her medals from the NZ Police and Civil Defence. Well deserved Mrs Fowler! Thank you for sharing.

On Wednesday we all went out to learn some great drills!
We're listening very carefully to the instructions.
Here we are in teams of 3-4. We were learning how to catch and throw a football.

Literacy Week - Term 2, week 1
This week Room 9 were learning and reading about New Zealand authors. We were reading books by Lynley Dodd, Joy Cowley, Margaret Mahy and so many more!
These are a few pictures of our class dressing up as characters from some of the books we had read from during the week!
Look at this gorgeous picture of Nga Jaylevan, Anita, Maylosa as Bottomley Potts and Aeriz!

ANZAC day - We will remember
We were very lucky to have Mrs Flack share some wonderful stories about ANZAC day and its importance to all New Zealanders.
Hi Rachael!
Sorry about the delay in posting these pictures! Behind us is an activity about generating electricity. It showed us which were the most efficient and cost effective light bulbs to use.
This is a shot of the giant game board that tested our knowledge on being environmentally aware!
This picture was taken outside the tread lightly caravan.
