At the Pools

During term two the year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students went to Otara pools for swimming lessons.

We liked it at the pools and we went as far as we can.
It was fun underwater and we could swim by ourselves.
We went on Fridays and we like swimming because we can go underwater.

Swimming

During term two we all went to go swimming at Otara.
We learned how to float on our back and we also learned how to blow bubbles underwater.
There was group 1, 2 and 3.
At the pools, there are people to guide you in the lesson.
At the end of the lesson we play fun games like you gotta catch the toy and bring it back to the coach.
Swimming is awesome.

Anzac Day Assembly

Yesterday morning after fitness the whole school went to the back stage at the back of the hall.
Then some special visitors came to Dawson school.
After that we sang the National Anthem and the Dawson school song.
Then some of the boys in the senior school did a haka.
Then some speakers came up and talked all about Anzac Day.
Did you know many of the army soldiers died?
I am so proud of the soldiers and now I know all about Anzac Day.

Room 9's Visitor

On Wednesday the 18th of March we had a special visitor. Miss Burton's dog Inca came to hang out with us. We had lots of fun and enjoyed having her for the morning.

First Celestina and the girls had a game of fetch.
Inca loves her tiny tennis ball and was chasing it all over Room 9!

Then it was reading time. Ross decided to read Inca one of his books from his book box. Inca loves listening to stories!

Inca was very tired after her game of fetch so Mele and Sophia gave her some cuddles.

It was finally time for Inca to go home. She enjoyed spending time with us and we can't wait to see her again sometime soon!

Whakawhanaunga

We think Whakawhanaunga means never leaving someone out and making people feel like they belong. It means always involving people so they feel like they are part of Dawson School. Whakawhanaunga is when we all work together to create a happy, safe place.
